T-Ross No Longer an Option in Tdot

Terrence Ross will likely be traded. From regressing statistically this season to attacking fans on social media.

It isn’t pretty. His twitter handle is @T_DotFlight31 and he’s won a dunk contest, but he refuses to use his athletic ability in games.

Furthermore, he is a terrible passer and has the tendency just to jack a shot when the ball comes to him. His defense has been missing in action for over a year.

Even with the struggles Terrence Ross has value around the league because he’s still young and another GM might believe in him.

There are plenty of possibly trade scenarios that come to mind.

Scenario One Jazz

Apparently the Jazz want to bring back Paul Millsap. If the Raptors can’t have him we might as well try peel something off the Jazz.

Utah has made it known they would have to move Derrick Favors because they already have Rudy Gobert and just drafted Trey Lyles. The Jazz have also made it known they aren’t too fond of Trey Burke who had a brutal season.

My offer to the Jazz: Terrence Ross + 2016 1st round pick (lottery protected) + another body to make the money work

for

Derrick Favors & Trey Burke

The Raptors have an abundance of picks and are in desperate need of a starting PF. I think not only could Favors play with Valanciunas, but he could also play centre in a lineup featuring Patterson. Favors is an extremely underrated big man who can not only score from the post, but can protect the rim. As for Trey Burke I think the combination of him and Delon Wright is a viable backup PG for Lowry. Also, we would still have some money left over to go out and get a wing, but I assuming in this scenario James Johnson becomes the Raptors starting SF.

Lineup

PG Kyle Lowry, Trey Burke, Delon Wright
SG DeMar DeRozan
SF James Johnson
PF Derrick Favors, Patrick Patterson
C Jonas Valanciunas

Scenario Two Kings

If the Kings decide to trade Cousins they will likely blowup their team.

I love me some Ben McLemore and I get the sense the Kings aren’t that attached to him. He progressed nicely this last season and could be a great player down the road.

My simple offer Terrence Ross + (the 2017 first round lottery protected pick we got from the Vasquez trade)

for

Ben McLemore

This gives the Kings a player now in Ross who probably fits in better with the Kings playing SG.

And the Raptors would still have plenty of cap space to go after quality players.

Lineup

PG Kyle Lowry, Delon Wright
SG Ben McLemore
SF DeMar DeRozan, James Johnson
PF  Patrick Patterson
C Jonas Valanciunas

Scenario Three Celtics

The Celtics are in the asset acquisition business. Time to dangle that 2017 first round lottery protected pick we got from the Vasquez trade again. There has been documented issues between Brad Stevens and Jared Sullinger.

My simple offer Terrence Ross + (the 2017 first round lottery protected pick we got from the Vasquez trade)

for

Jared Sullinger

Seems crazy that the Celtics would do this right? Well Sully only has one more year left on his rookie deal and then will likely want a payday. This deal helps the Raptors in the short-term by increasing our cap space by about $1M and makes our team better.

Lineup

PG Kyle Lowry, Delon Wright
SG DeMar DeRozan
SF James Johnson
PF Jared Sullinger, Patrick Patterson
C Jonas Valanciunas

Scenario Four Nuggets

The Nuggets are clearly rebuilding and have been throwing Kenneth’s Faried name out there.

My offer again is Terrence Ross + (the 2017 first round lottery protected pick we got from the Vasquez trade) + another body to make the money work

for

Kenneth Faried

Lineup

PG Kyle Lowry, Delon Wright
SG DeMar DeRozan
SF James Johnson
PF Kenneth Faried, Patrick Patterson
C Jonas Valanciunas

There seems to be two divides. The people that love Faried and the ones that hate him. Yes he’s overpaid and undersized, but would help the Raptors significantly at PF (rebounding, defending, and hustling).

Which scenario do you like best? Disagree with anything? Let me know.
