The Answer @ PF

Every Raptors fan or even NBA fan knew the Raptors needed to make a deal for a PF at the deadline. It didn’t happen.

Against the Indiana Pacers Markieff Morris would have been a good solution at PF. He would have matched the Pacers physicality and been competent on both ends. And the cost to get him wasn’t too high.

Instead the Raptors find themselves with one PF in Patrick Patterson who struggles when he starts, but seems capable off the bench.

The problem is finding a player to start and fill in the other 15-18 minutes at the position. Luis Scola is a clear no because he’s a pylon on D. Jason Thompson is meh.

Putting DeMarre Carroll at the 4 just might work, but the problem with that is it would limit our other lineups.

Lineups (combinations that could work)

A
PG Lowry
SG Joseph
SF Powell
PF Carroll
C Valanciunas

B
PG Joseph
SG DeRozan
SF Powell
PF Carroll
C Valancianas

C
PG Lowry
SG Joseph
SF Powell
PF Carroll
C Biyombo

D
PG Joseph
SG DeRozan
SF Powell
PF Carroll
C Biyombo

Double Centre Lineups

E
PG Lowry
SG Joseph
SF Powell
PF Valanciunas
C Biyombo

F
PG Lowry
SG Joseph
SF Carroll
PF Valanciunas
C Biyombo

G
PG Lowry
SG Powell
SF Carroll
PF Valanciunas
C Biyombo

H
PG Joseph
SG Powell
SF Carroll
PF Valanciunas
C Biyombo

I
PG Joseph
SG DeRozan
SF Carroll
PF Valanciunas
C Biyombo

Final thoughts:

Lowry is being wasted when he is playing alongside DeRozan because DeRozan just goes into isolations when he gets the ball.

I would rather have James Johnson out there than Ross. Johnson knows how to play in a physical game and can play D.
